Thanks for joining us at the EYP BIRTHDAY BASH and Haiti fundraiser at KANALOA on 27 January. The fundraiser is still open!

EYP London, in partnership with Kanaloa, one of the coolest new bars in town, invite you to celebrate our third birthday in style on Wednesday, 27 January from 7pm. Pictures will be available on in the gallery soon.

This was a birthday celebration with a twist – we teamed up with Kanaloa to raise as much money as possible for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s (DEC) Haiti earthquake appeal. As you’ll be aware, a devastating earthquake hit Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, on 12 January and an estimated 100,000 to 200,000 people have died with thousands more left injured and without homes. Very substantial humanitarian assistance is required to ensure survivors get food, clean water, emergency shelter, medical care and other support. Many DEC member agencies - which include Oxfam, the Red Cross, Save the Children and Action Aid - are helping on the ground but they need as much support as possible to continue providing aid.

"Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding is one of the investors in Kanaloa, the sister bar of Mayfair’s Mahiki that serves up the same tiki-themed, beachy breeziness that has proven to be so successful for its older sibling..." ViewLondon

Thanks for joining us not only to celebrate our third birthday but also to raise money for a good cause.  For more details and to register your attendance, click here

Latest competition: which quite interesting dead person are you?

8 Comments - Add comment Written on 30-Nov-2009 by KSwanston

We have quite an interesting competition this month, dear EYP readers. We have all the QI books published this year - QI: Book of The Dead, QI: Advanced Banter, and QI Annual 2009 – to give to one lucky member.  Could that be you?  Read on to find out how it could be…

To celebrate the recent publication of QI: The Book of the Dead, Faber and Galactus have collaborated on a hilarious and mind-expanding online quiz for you to find out which quite interesting dead person you could be.

The quiz takes six of the most interesting life stories from the book and turns them into a multiple choice questionnaire, with questions covering school days, love life and guilty secrets. Take the quiz, and alongside the results, you can read short biographies of the featured stars, from Sir Isaac Newton to Florence Nightingale, wherein you can find out about the wholly unexpected sides of these famous and fascinating people in extracts taken from QI’s wonderful new book, part of their ongoing project to help us all laugh ourselves clever.

Back to the competition: to enter, all you need to do is:

  • Take the quiz – available online here
  • Find out exactly which quite interesting dead person you’d be
  • Come back to this blog post and click “Add Comment” - tell us who you’d be and whether or not you can relate.

Please make sure you log into this site to comment - or put your email address on your comment – so we know how to contact you should you be the lucky winner.

The competition ended 13 December

Pictures from EYP London's Chinawhite event now online

A big thank you to all who came to our recent event at Chinawhite.

Over 200 EYP members attended the night to hear "Mr Network", Andy Lopata, deliver an excellent presentation on the value of networking.  In his talk, Andy discussed the ways in which networks can make a big difference to a business, particularly during this economic downturn.

The event concluded to the stirring beats of DJ Ian (“Get shaky”) Carey on the decks and a good time was had by all.

Photos are now online from the event - check out our gallery to view them.
